I teach all levels from beginner to advanced (A1-C2).
Tuition for beginners
Level A = basic language use
The goal is for you to learn the basic vocabulary and the basic grammar quickly and efficiently so that you can make yourself understood and get by in everyday life. During the lessons we will concentrate on exactly the things that you need every day. With me you will learn German mainly through spoken communication. Talk, talk and talk again! I want you to be able to use what you learn in the lesson immediately. You learn by doing! Modern teaching materials form the basis of the course, with reference to life in Switzerland. Written work will follow in the form of homework – in the lesson you speak, at home you write.
Thanks to my entertaining and interesting teaching methods you will discover a love of learning and joy in the German language. Learning German can really be a lot of fun!
Tuition for Advanced learners
Level B = independent language user
Level C = proficient language user
You already have more than a basic knowledge, you may have good or even very good German. However, you want more. I will gladly help you improve and broaden your German so that you reach the next level quickly and efficiently.
By means of spoken and written tests we will find out what your current German knowledge is and what level you are currently at. This test is free of charge and without any obligation. Following a consultation with you I will put together a tailored programme and teaching materials, with which we can work specifically towards the next level.
Even with advanced tuition the focus will be on spoken communication. Written exercises and summaries of texts will be done by you as homework. Perhaps when you have reached your goal you decide to top your efforts with a German examination.
Time required for learning
Learning is a very individual process. How quickly you make progress depends essentially on how much time you have and how committed you are . Perhaps you have already learned a foreign language and already have a clear understanding of what you need to do. You probably know what kind of learner you are. Are you a lazy learner or a swot? I will quickly find out which kind of learner you are, support you appropriately through the learning process and encourage you. You will learn German most quickly and efficiently if you use it at every opportunity in everyday life.
On the basis of experience it can be estimated that you will need the following number of 60 minute lessons to reach the next level. Please note that these are based on averages.
